It is IPX4 rated sweat and water-resistant. We haven’t spent enough time with it yet. However, Sony’s latest true wireless earbuds still feel superior to the sony WF-1000X and WF-SP700N.
Sony WF-XB700 earbuds release date and price

Sony Earbuds Design
The WF-XB700 is generally round compared to the earbuds that Sony has made in the past. On the outside of it is an almost satellite-Esque circular disc that hosts two buttons. What these buttons did exactly wasn’t intuitive at first. On the left side of the earbud, you can play/pause and skip the volume up / down and right. You can also use them to activate your voice assistant and receive calls.
The Sony WF-XB700 earbuds have three essential parts. The earbuds fit that tip into the ear canal, the middle section that holds the driver and sits inside the ear, and the outer shell is where the battery is. This three-level design is not precisely space-efficient. There is likely to be an incredible polarization for people who want thin, sleek buds. However, there are some benefits.
The first of these advantages is that, because of their size, both their ear canal and outer ear should be filled. These feel secure plus are surprisingly comfortable for their lightweight. It also makes it easy to wear for a long time, and the stiff seal helps them to sound great. There is no reason to worry if the default tips don’t fit properly. There are several eartips inside the box for your comfortable fit, which is a great touch.
Sony wireless earbuds Performance
Because the WF-XB700 earbuds are part of the extra bass series, they are worthy of thanks to the bloated, the rust and the bounded sound. The first thing you will notice when listening to them is the bass. It certainly exists. That done in a way that feels tight and punchy, rather than muddy and bloated. The result is music that is fun to hear – even if it doesn’t sound like the artist intended.
The downside is that the midrange hits here. Listening to YouTube videos is noticeably quieter across the board than listening to music, and the low-powered midrange indeed blames it there. That does not mean that it is impossible to listen to YouTube or Netflix; they are not. But if there were a way to change the EQ based on Sony’s headphone app, that would be great. However, at this point, there is no such fate.
Of course, Sony earbuds should double as a good gym companion with those who are companion-focused. That is why they are IPX4 sweat and water-resistant. Based on our short time with them, they seem to have a relatively stable connection. We did not feel any hint of a dropout while walking around our house together.
The built-in mics of the Sony WF-XB700 earbuds are pretty cool. Within hours, we had taken a few phone calls with buds. Sony earbuds are, for the most part, the ones we talked to that said they were listening alright. While this is comforting, some people have had problems with the built-in mics of other Sony headphones in the past. However, we will continue to use them and report any inconsistencies in the future.
Sony Earbuds Battery life
Another advantage of the Sony WF-XB700 design is that they can raise themselves slightly from the average battery in the buds. According to Sony, the battery life is about 9 hours on a single charge. In addition to charging it an additional 9 hours, it brings a total of 18 hours. It is undoubtedly the best on the market. In comparison, Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus gives them 11 hours of playback out of the case. Whereas some of the higher-priced Apple AirPods offer only 5 hours of music playback before returning to their field.
The cases of the WF-XB700 are relatively slim in plastic. It uses a transparent cover that allows you to see the charging status of the earbuds in the case. Plug in an open USB port on your computer with the USB-to-USB C cable provided to recharge both the case and the bud. The Sony WF-XB700’s auto-off is a vast energy-saver, so it’s nice to see it used here.
Although the Sony WF-XB700 earbuds are comfortable to focus on some of the downsides, like the polarizing design. Its lacklustre midrange and lack of noise cancellation. Frankly, these are perfect for competing with Apple AirPods. They have the right price, the right sound and even better battery life than the AirPods. We want to continue talking to them in the coming days until Sony brings them alternative markets. That is undoubtedly going to be Sony’s best true wireless earbud.
